carousel, go through customs and security, and have your luggage checked in again for the domestic flight. Police formalities can be lengthy due to the crowds at large airports. To avoid missing your flight, make sure you have at least 2 hours between connecting flights. Upon return, however, you will be able to check in your baggage through to your final destination. Aviation Security The security measures for flights to or from the United States are very strict. Liquids , aerosols, gels, pastes, and creams are prohibited in the cabin, except in tubes and bottles that hold no more than 100 ml, and they must be placed in a single transparent and sealable plastic bag, less than 1 liter in volume. Baby food, essential liquid medicines (provided you can show the prescription) and liquids purchased in duty-free (provided they are packed in a sealed security bag, with the receipt visible) are exempt from this rule. Your electronic devices (laptop, cell phone, tablet, etc.) will not be allowed onboard flights without their batteries charged. Checked baggage is inspected by the Transport Security Administration (TSA), who can open it if they see fit. If you lock your suitcases, preferably use a TSA-approved lock or padlock, otherwise they may have to be broken.
It is advisable to arrive at the airport 2½ to 3 hours in advance to have enough time to go through all the pre-flight formalities. Upon Arrival in the United States When you pass through immigration on your arrival in the US, a snapshot of your face will be taken and you will have to answer questions from a poker-faced and strict official. Take the process seriously, even if some questions may seem somewhat odd. Smile, keep calm, and answer the questions politely. Money The U.S. dollar ($) is divided into 100 cents. There are $1, $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100 banknotes, as well as coins worth 1 cent (penny) , 5 cents (nickel) , 10 cents (dime) , 25 cents (quarter) , as well as 50 cent (half-dollar) and 1 dollar coins, issued as collectibles. w All banknotes are green and of the same size. The 10 ct coin is smaller than the 5 ct coin. Exchange rate in June 2024: $1 = €0.92 Credit cards – Accepted with no payment limit. The exchange rate is determined based on the day of transaction, to which commission is then added. ATMs – Absolutely everywhere, including in many shops, restaurants, grocery stores, etc.
