Know Before You Go Entry Requirements

you have traveled since March 2011 in the following countries: Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Yemen. Since January 12, 2021, Cuba has been added to the list. A visa is required even if you have renewed your passport since these dates; if your trip to Cuba is prior to this date, make an ESTA request by answering “yes” to the question about Cuba, and your case will be reviewed. Customs Animal products, fruit, vegetables, and plants are prohibited from entering U.S. territory, as are weapons and ammunition, along with certain prohibited substances. Legislation permits the import of 1 liter of alcohol per person over 21 years of age, 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars, as well as any gift not exceeding the value of $100. Travel Insurance You are strongly recommended to take out insurance with your tour operator or insurance company of your choice. Make sure your policy coverage includes cancellation (before departure), payment of hospital and repatriation costs (during your stay), and theft or loss of luggage. If you pay for your trip by bank card, be aware that most banks offer free travel insurance to cardholders. Check the policy

ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) - The ESTA form must be completed online, on the official website esta.cbp.dhs.gov , at least 72 hours before departure. There is now also an official ESTA mobile app. Valid for two years and for multiple entries, ESTA costs $21 , payable online by credit card. Authorization is given on site, usually immediately. If it remains on hold, you will need to log back on to the website (or app) the next day or the day after to track the approval of the request. No reply will be sent by e-mail or mail. Once the authorization has been granted, it is recommended (but not mandatory) to print it out to keep the reference. If refused, a visa must be requested from the U.S. consulate. Children of all ages are subject to the same procedures. Visa For further information, please contact the U.S. embassy or consulate in your country ( T p. 116) . A visa is not required for travelers of certain nationalities on tourism or business trips, provided they meet the conditions stated above. If you are visiting from outside the United States, you can also find information on the official travel sites of the US: www.visittheusa.com, www.visitusa.org.uk, www.visitusa. org.au . Before booking, check your identity documents : if they are not compliant or require you to obtain a visa, you will have to allow for long waiting times, including for an in-person appointment at the United States Embassy. Passport and ESTA To enter the United States without a visa, you must have a valid biometric passport , plan a stay of up to 90 days maximum, have a return flight or cruise ticket, and must have applied for an ESTA travel authorization . Married woman’s name – U.S. authorities require overseas citizens to use their name as it appears on their passport. Married women should ideally enter their two surnames: their maiden name and their married name, separated by a space. If you scan your passport on the official ESTA website, the maiden name will be given priority on the final document. In this case, we strongly recommend that you apply for airline tickets and ESTA under your maiden name also, so that all documents match.
