Among the Detroit distilleries opened and restored since Prohibition, this was the first (2013), plus it has the widest range: gin, rum, vodka, mezcal, bourbon, whiskey, and even absinthe! Distilled spirit cocktails are served in the other part of the garage housing the facilities—which you can get a peek of during tasting tours (Fri.- Sun., calendar on the website - $15) . Folk come here for the excellent selection of beers, some brewed on site, the board games, and the good vibes. Germack has been a purveyor of dried fruits, nuts, and coffee (on-site roasting) since 1924. Coffee is serious business here, too: this roaster is coupled with a pleasant cafe in a cool interior. Established in 2012, this craft distillery makes its own gin, bourbon, and vodka (visit and tasting $45 - calendar on the website) . Not to mention it’s a really great bar that spills onto the street in high season and has an impressive cocktail line-up. Nice ambiance.

Without question come scoff the macarons and other sweet treats from this cake shop, washed down with great coffee. � đ Warda Pâtisserie – E4 - 70 W. Alexandrine St - t (313) 262 6977 - warda-patisserie-midtown. square.site - 8am-4pm - closed Mon.-Tue. Algerian baker Warda Bouguettaya concocts what she likes to call “pastries without borders”: she mixes Middle Eastern, French, and Asian (from her time in China) influences, and her customers love her for it! Savory specialties too. Can’t fault the place. Terrace in high season. Bars Ē The Old Miami – E4 - 3930 Cass Ave - t (313) 831-3830 - 12pm-2am. Created in 1979 by and for Vietnamese veterans, the bar has since opened up to a wider public. Live music, fairly cheap drinks, a large outdoor courtyard, and a no-frills atmosphere. ē Brush Park Bodega – F5 - 2671 Brush St - t (313) 774-2774 - www. bodegamkt.com - 9am-midnight (Sun. 10pm). Delicatessen, coffee shop, bar: a nice place to stop for a break, have breakfast, or enjoy a drink in the evening.
