If it weren’t for the long wait line at the entrance, you’d hardly know this place was there, let alone popular. For sushi, chirashi, tempura, and Japanese specialties made with quality produce. ŋ The Morrie Royal Oak – 511 S. Main St - Royal Oak - t (248) 216-1112 - www.themorrie.com - 5pm-11pm/2am (weekend from 10am, Sun. until 4pm) - closed Mon.-Wed. - dishes $11-25. A large, always buzzy dining room where you can just sit and have a drink and take in a concert. On the menu: salads, deli boards, spicy chicken wings, etc. The place is very popular for brunch. $20-40 Ŋ Streetside Seafood – 273 Pierce St - Birmingham - t (248) 645-9123 - streetsideseafood.com - 3pm-9/11pm (Thu.-Fri. from 12pm) - dishes $18-55. A long dining room and a wide selection of seafood (renowned oyster bar ) , lots of fish dishes but not exclusively, all well prepared. The opportunity to taste local freshwater fish such as walleye or the Great Lakes perch. Ň Churchills Bistro Cigar Bar – 116 S. Old Woodward Ave - Birmingham - t (248) 647-4555 - 10am-11pm - dishes $21-49. Much better if you appreciate the smell of cigar smoke, which wafts all the way to the sidewalk. Heady aromas that might even win over non-smokers.
A five-course tasting menu with a choice of meat, pescatarian, vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free options, because—whatever your diet—you’re welcome here. Of course, the menu changes with the seasons. Located in a neighborhood low on dining spots, this eclectic American Hispanic-Asian-influenced restaurant is one of the most pleasant options available, featuring dishes to share alongside more traditional fare. Good weekend brunch.
