East of Downtown, the Detroit River can be followed for several miles to Lake St. Clair, from which it flows. Along the extended Riverfront, the riverbanks have been redeveloped, while on the shores of the lake lies Grosse Pointe, a string of upmarket suburbs. � Getting there: On foot and by car. activities, in all weathers. Between the river and E. Jefferson Avenue, there is the Rivertown Warehouse District , a flourishing hotbed of projects and refurbishments. At St Aubin Street, the Dequindre Cut , created along an old railway line, began development in 2009. This 2-miles cycling and pedestrian greenway leads to Eastern Market through an impressive street art trail. w While development projects are being studied west of Downtown, it is mainly east of the city center that the banks of the Detroit River have been developed, between GM Plaza (in front of the RenCen G7 ) and Gabriel Richard Park , beyond the bridge leading to Belle Isle.
