Getting to Detroit Detroit Metro Airport (DTW)
By Ride-Hailing Lyft and Uber are very popular. Prices vary according to request. By Cab Reckon on a journey of between 30 and 45 minutes depending on the time of day, and a minimum fare of $70. Getting There by Train or Bus Amtrak Station – 11 W. Baltimore Ave - t +1 800 872 7245 – www.amtrak.com. The station is close to New Center and Woodward Ave, from where you can access the Q Line ( T p. 123) . The Wolverine train connects Chicago to Pontiac via Detroit (approx. 5 hr). Greyhound - 1001 Howard St - www. greyhound.com. The bus station is in Corktown, close to Downtown by taxi. The country’s largest long-distance bus network takes you from Chicago to Detroit in a little over 4 hours. Finding Your Way Around The central axis which determines whether addresses are in compass direction E. (East) or W. (West) is on Woodward Avenue ( T p. 18) . Getting Around The city center has an elevated transport system ( DPM - Detroit People Mover ) and a streetcar system ( Q Line ), both free of charge. T p. 123.
Detroit Airport is located 23 miles southwest of the city center. t 734 247 7678 - www.metroairport.com. Both the Evans Terminal and the McNamara Terminal serve international flights and are connected by train. To leave the airport, follow the “Ground Transportation” signs. Getting to the City Center The airport has no direct links to the city center either by the People Mover or by train. By Bus SMART - www.smartbus.org. Bus 261 to Rosa Parks Transit Center (Downtown) via Dearborn ($2 - 55 min. approx. - 1 bus/hr, from 5am to 10:30pm approx.). By Shuttle www.shuttlefinder.com - This site compares prices of collective or individual shuttles by day, time, and number of passengers. Detroit Air Xpress (DAX) – t 517 333 0400 - rtamichigan.org. Direct link between the airport (McNamara Terminal or Evans Terminal) and Downtown (adjacent to 1119 Washington Blvd). 16 round trips/day between 3:30am and 11pm, $6 online booking, $8 on-site.
